Default The Commander

The Commander (An other overpowered crappy paragon wannabe with extra minions to top it all off)

The commander is a profession which calls upon various battalions of troops to aid him and his allies in battle. He also provides useful shouts to his party and units. His true strength relies within his units but when threatened he can hold his own with his equally adept skill with a sword and bow.

You and your battalion have +10-30% armour but deal 30-10% less damage with attacks and will not auto aquire enemies. Lasts until canceled. Only one formation can be active at a time. (Formation)

Attack Formation
You and your battalion deal +10-30% damage with attacks but have 30-10% less armour and will auto aquire enemies within aggro range. Lasts until canceled. Only one formation can be active at a time. (Formation)

Marching Formation
You and your battalion move 10-30% faster but have 10-30% less armour and deal 10-30% less damage with attacks and will not auto aquire enemies. Lasts until canceled. Only one formation can be active at a time. (Formation)

Default Formation
'...Uhh...it's default. No bonuses, no disadvantages.' (Formation)

Follow
Your battalion follows you. Duh! (Formation)

Stay
Think of your units as a pet. (Formation)

Guard (Guild War's first point and click)
Command your battalion to guard an area. Battalion will auto aquire enemies when sighted. (Formation)

Patrol (Guild War's first point and click and point and point and cli...)
Place set markers for your battalion to patrol along. Battalion will auto aquire enemies when sighted. (Formation)

(There will be a lot more but I'm not arsed listing them all)

(Battalion bars are like advanced pet bars and these commands above are like commands that you can give your pet...but with more options.)

'Reinforcments Have Arrived!' 15 energy, instant, 60 recharge
Replenishes the number of units in your battalion.

(E) 'We Are The Elite' 5 energy, instant, 20 recharge
For 4-7 seconds you and your battalion gain +8-25% armour and +8-25% damage. (Formation)

'Aim! Fire!'5 energy, instant, 8 recharge
Your archer battalion holds fire for 3 seconds then releases. This barrage deals 8-21 more damage per archer. (Formation)

'For Tyria!' 5 energy, instant, 30 recharge
For 2-5 your units gains a 11-33% increase to attack speed and +5-12 damage per attack. (Formation)

'Show Them No Mercy!' 10 energy, instant, 45 recharge
For 5-12 seconds your units gain +8-16 damage per attack. (Formation)

'You Shall Taste Man Flesh!' 10 energy, instant, 30 recharge
For 7-17 seconds your units gain +15-30 health per kill. (Formation)

Commanding Squad 5 energy, 3 cast, 60 recharge
Your current units are risen up 1-3 levels for 5-24 seconds. (Formation)

The Battalion
You can only have one battalion at a time.
Your battalion get's it's own bar much like a hero. All of the formations are on your battalion's bar like a hero bar, but you cannot add or remove those formations. The battalion's bar shows itself in the pet or ally part of the party box.
Units cannot go through each other or other party members.
Units each have their own attack interval so some might be faster at others at attacking.
Units respond to target calls.
If a unit cannot reach its target due to other units or other party members in the way then it will attack the closest reachable target.
Units don't all attack the same target if there are other enemies within nearby range of their 'primary' target. This means that there will be a kinda volley aoe effect over an area. If an arrow hits a target then it will do damage. It's realy just random if you know what I mean.
Units are all male, each with their own random appearance.
Units have a natural health regen like players.
(There are probably more things about the battalions which I had in my mind when I started this but I have most likely forgotten them and ain't bothered trying to remember them.)

Guild Wars meets Lord of the Rings.

Remember that this is for the upcoming GW2 in which the game play will be completely different. There will probaly be bigger mobs and bigger party sizes than in the current game so this, 'Commander' might fit in perfectly!

That is well thought out and amazing. It sounds like a class that would be awesome but at the same time extremly overpowered for GW1. As we don't know about gw2 much it might fit in there.

As far as that one skill that increases levels of your battalion. I will use knight for example. Knight you have out there level health and everything written out. So to me it sounds like there level isn't directly linked to how much hp they have. So rather then just increasing the level they spawn. Instead maybe have that read. Commanding Squad. Your next battalion summoned attribute is raised by 1-3. Allowing everything not just there level to be increased.

However everyone knows your level in guild wars directly affects your health energy. SO you probably ment that allowing them to be summoned at a higher level would automatically give them more health and energy.

I just wanted to make sure it was worded the way you wanted it to sound.

Could you imagine like 2-3 of these in a group each having a type of battalion. Expescially if the(I am assuming there shouts/chants) stacked onto other players battalions. You could have 1 guy running like 3 damage increase 1 guy running 3 amror increase 1 guy running 3 ias. Would be amazing.

1 last suggestion. Maybe a skill for the archers to increase there chance of hitting. like Take Aim: Archers next 1-4 attacks can not be blocked and move twice as fast. 10e/20recharge/instant. It would be a shout.

wow omg.... i love the hell out of this idea. imagine a GW that would actually have a place for a proffession like this.... wow... gotta say kudos on the idea of this one, dude. i'm amazed-- completely. it takes a LOT to impress me... and i mean a LOTTTT (not to mention on a forums of all places).

discloser: yes, others will come in and say "OMG U R TEH U83R 1337 H4X0R DATS TOO STRONG!", but, remember, this is just a concept; nothing real, so, save the flames and gives the dude his grats on the creativity of this

You could make a pretty nice game based on this concept, but it's not GW compatible (just think of the computing power needed to manage the max of 72 guys on a single team), though a mission based profession ( à la junondo wurms ) would make for an interesting twist in gameplay

/notsigned ...

the very least what this game or GW2 needs are dumb clone professions...

Where is the sense of Warriors or Rangers, when it gives commanders, which act also like Necromancers, but instead of undeads, they have living battalions -.-

no thx .. come with somethign, that looks more unique and looks not like a Wannabe- 3 in 1 Profession like the Paragon.

Each Profession in GW(2) has their own Attributes and doesn't clone attributes of other professions!!. Therefore exists the 2 Class System in GW >.>

As you say self, this is way too overpowered... and in the end the Commander is nothign else, then a possible stronger form of a Warrior (Soldier), which raised in his career ladder

Its no creativity imo to make 3 in 1-clone professions , such CC's can create every Noob, who has played GW for like 1 Day >.>

Creativity is to create a CC around a profession, which looks and will work mostly in (if possible) all its points unique over all the other Professions.

This means:

- It should not wield just again only Magic Staffs and Wands, GW has enough of these kinds of Caster Classes, which run around with these Weapons.
Casters can have also some more original weapons, then ever only Staffs...

- It should have only own Attributes, so NO attributes which belong to an other Profession. So when you want make for example a Class, that should also use Bows, then link this Weapon to an attribute that has an other name, than Marksmanship and will have its own skills, so not simple clone the skills from the Rangers Attribute ... Skills must have certain differences

- The Profession should give the game new skill types, new gameplay, anyhow something, that gives the CC a good reason for implemention

- The CC must have a unique Primary Attribute, which gives the class some bonus effects, which only this proffesion with its primary can have, so that the Class will become more unique over the other professions and that players will have a reason to play this profession as primary to and not only maybe as Secondary ...

- Its Head Gear must be something new, due to the fact that each profession has their own unique Head Gears... having multiple profession, which wear as Head Gear all Helms is BORING

This would be totally copying lord of the rings..

If that only, thats far too overpowered, every class would be abandoned for that..

Of course, GW has never copied any other world of warcra...I mean games before, has it?

Seems like a good idea, but some of the things seem paragon-esque

Just because it has shouts, it doesn't mean it's a paragon. Warriors have shouts too. It's class is based around creating troops rather than using 'chants or shouts'.
